At the moment Vermeulen is working on a triptych: ‘the Mood Rooms’, a collection of three autonomous installations. In everyday life the senses are constantly being stimulated, and in response the body produces mind-altering substances. This constant interplay between the body’s physical, mental and emotional states is the central theme in ‘the Mood Rooms’.

This installation is part of ‘the Mood Rooms’ and deals with how man is influenced by sound and resonance.

For this project Vermeulen recorded singers separately from different countries including China, Tibet, Israel, India, Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran, and the USA. He asked them to hum in one key and to sing their personal aspiration to the world in the very same key. Each sound sculpture in the installation represents one singer. Together a dynamic world choir of different nationalities is formed in which the visitor can move around freely.

The singers:
Abdul Wakil (Afghanistan), Bahramji (Iran), Bodhigita (Brazil), Chote Rahimat Khan (India), Gallita Tassa (Israel), Jamyang Jorjee (Tibet), Mohamed Alnuna (Iraq), Ping Fang (China), Shanti Devi Upal (India / the Netherlands), Shari Parispoor (Iran), Shiuli Subaya (India), SrutiRam (USA), Tapsang (Tibet), Wahab Madadi (Afghanistan), Zhubin Kalhor (Iran).
